  • Which payment methods are accepted ?

    You can pay in cash (up to a €100 note) or by Bancontact, Visa or Mastercard. We do not accept cheques.
    Payments via Payconiq are also accepted.
    “Sport et culture” cheques issued by Sodexo/Pluxee and Endered are also accepted (hard copy and electronic versions).
    We do not accept consumer cheques.

  • What are the conditions for free entry ?

    • SPARKOH! is free for children under 4.
    • For journalists, on presentation of a press pass along with an ID document.
    • On presentation of the 365- Attractions et Musées card, along with an ID document (valid for 2 people).
    • On presentation of the ICOM card (only valid for the owner of the card).
  • Can I buy tickets online ?

    Tickets can be purchased online via the SPARKOH! online ticket office for individual visitors only.

  • Where should I go with my pre-purchased online tickets?

    Go to the ticket office upon arrival; a staff member will scan your online ticket and provide essential information for your visit.

  • Is my membership valid for one year?

    That’s right. From date to date.

  • I am visiting as part of a group. Can I buy my ticket online?

    No. Online ticket purchases are not available for youth or adult groups.
    Please make your booking by phone on +32 (0)65 61 21 60 or via the online booking form.
    Booking is mandatory.

Opening hours

  • What are SPARKOH!’s opening hours?

    SPARKOH!’s opening hours vary depending on the time of year. During school term time in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, SPARKOH! is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and every Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Closed on Wednesdays and Saturdays. During school holidays in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, SPARKOH! is open every day from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. We recommend checking our calendar before your visit for the latest opening hours.

  • Is SPARKOH! open at weekends ?

    SPARKOH! is open every Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. It is also open at weekends during school holidays in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. For weekends during the Christmas holidays, please consult our calendar.

  • Which public holidays is SPARKOH! open to visitors?

    To find out on which public holidays SPARKOH! is open, please consult our calendar.

  • On which days is SPARKOH! free of charge?

    Free admission days at SPARKOH! vary from year to year. We recommend checking our News page regularly or subscribing to our newsletter to stay up to date.

Workshops

  • Do I need to pay for family activities ?

    No. Once you have checked in at the ticket desk and entered the site, you have access to all activities available on the day, subject to availability.

  • Why are there no family activities during term time ?

    During school term time, our science communicators are fully engaged in delivering a rich educational programme for school groups, from the second year of nursery school through to the end of secondary education.As a result, they are not available to run activities for individual visitors.During school holidays in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, however, we aim to offer one or two activities each day, subject to the availability of our science communicators. <

  • Can I find out about the activities available to individual visitors in advance ?

    In the “activities” section for families, you can discover the activities planned for each school holiday period. These can only be booked on site on the day of your visit, with a maximum of one activity per family and subject to availability.

  • As an individual visitor, do I need to book to take part in an activity ?

    No, advance booking is not required.When you arrive at SPARKOH!, you will discover the day’s programme of activities. You can then plan your visit according to the activities on offer, their scheduled times and the exhibitions that interest you most.

  • Can we go to the top of the Pit-Head Frame ?

    Access to the Pit-Head Frame is not currently permitted for safety reasons.

  • Are climbs of the spoil heap planned for individual visitors ?

    We do not offer guided walks to the top of the spoil heap, except during special events.However, you are welcome to walk up freely and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view over the surrounding region.

Visitor services

  • Does SPARKOH! have a restaurant?

    Yes. SPARKOH! has an on-site restaurant.We serve a selection of hot and cold meals, as well as light refreshments including sandwiches, soups, hot dishes, wraps and desserts.During the warmer months, you can also enjoy the cafeteria terrace overlooking the outdoor areas, close to the playground.During school term timeMonday to Friday: 11:30 am – 2:30 pm Sunday: 11:30 am – 5:30 pm Closed on Wednesdays and Saturdays During school holidays and public holidaysEvery day: 11:30 am – 5:30 pm

  • Can I bring a picnic to SPARKOH!?

    Yes.   • Are there lockers where I can leave my belongings?

    There are lockers near reception, where you can leave your coats and other bulky items with complete peace of mind.

  • Is WiFi available free of charge ?

    Yes. You can use the access code printed on your admission ticket to access the lockers.

Accessibility

  • Is there a charge for parking ?

    No. Parking is free all year round.

  • Is SPARKOH! accessible to visitors with reduced mobility?

    Yes: there are lifts in all the buildings.

  • Is SPARKOH! accessible to deaf and hard of hearing visitors?

    Yes. Many of our exhibitions include visual and interactive elements that are accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors. If you have specific questions about the accessibility of particular activities or exhibitions, please contact our visitor services team before your visit.

  • Are pushchairs allowed on site?

    Yes, of course. You are welcome to use your child’s pushchair throughout the SPARKOH! site.All buildings are equipped with lifts, making it easy to move around the site with a pushchair.

  • Are animals allowed ?

    No, animals are not allowed in the museum, apart from guide dogs.

Events

  • Can I hire a room at SPARKOH! for my event?

    Yes. If you would like to hire a venue for a private or corporate event, please visit our events website or email rirag@fcnexbu.or.

  • Can I organise my child’s birthday party at SPARKOH!?

    We no longer offer hosted birthday parties, but you are still very welcome to visit SPARKOH! and make use of our cafeteria without any obligation to make a purchase.
